About Microbe

Microbe is an all-in one electronic music studio for PalmOSc Handhelds. It takes advantage of the computing power of the ARM-powered devices and of the advanced sound manipulation features offered by the OS 5.0 to generate live, cool, synthetic or sampled sounds. It features two channels of synthesis with low-pass resonant filter, and 8 channels of modifiable drum samples, all of them programmed with a user-friendly step by step / grid sequencer. You are a DJ and want a tool to generate fill-ins, drums patterns, cool synth sounds or sampled jingles? You like composing music while commuting? Just want to bring cool rave sounds in your pocket? Microbe is made for you. Enjoy!
  • 2 mono synthesizers with 4 waveforms, 2/3/4 poles low pass resonant filter, filter envelope, volume, panning.
  • 2 tracks of up to 4 drum samples, with filter and panning.
  • Samples can be loaded from .wav files on memory card or from sample packs (samples collection packed in a single pdb file).
  • 18 effect plug-ins. Try them all!
  • XY mode to control synthesis parameters with the stylus.
  • 32 patterns with chaining for song creation and easy live performances.
  • accurate BPM.
  • Easy to use, "no-skin no-bullshit" user interface. The trial version has the following limitations: after a few minutes one of the tracks is muted, after 2 or 3 more minutes, another track is muted, etc ; beaming is disabled ; and you can save only one song at a time. The version 1.3 comes with the following improvements/fixes:
    • New effect plug-ins: chorus, pitch-shifter, phaser, buffer-lock.
    • New "smooth envelope" on the synth channels to reduce clicks at the beginning and the end of notes.
    • Wav rendering feature to export your song as a .wav file on the memory card.
    • A bug preventing some dialog boxes to be displayed on Tapwave Zodiac / Zodiac 2 devices has been fixed.
    • Several minor bugs have been fixed.
Requires a device supporting PalmOSc 5.0 streaming sound. Please test on your device before purchasing!Owners of NX/NZ/TG Cliés will need to install a little hack created by CliePet emulating the OS 5.0 sound APIs. Get it, it is free. The result might not be perfect (clicks), so it is advised to experiment before purchasing.Tested on the following devices: Zire 71, 72, 31, Tungsten T, T2, T3, T5, TX, LifeDrive, Tungsten C, E, E2, Treo600, Treo650, Treo700p, Treo 680, Tapwave Zodiac / Zodiac 2, Sony UX 50 and TH 55.
