Sense and Sensibility
Jane AustenConsidered the mother of the modern English novel, Jane Austen hardly everleft her house. The seventh child of a country rector, she was born inthe tiny English village of Basingstoke in 1775 and, following a brief stint in Bath, theAusten family settled in the village of Chawton where Jane lived out therest of her life. She died in 1817 at age 42 after contracting tuberculosis. Austen wrote about what she knew best - minor landedgentry in varying economic circumstances and struggling to maintain or enhance theirsocial standing. While all her heroes and heroines were preoccupied with courtshipand marriage, Austen herself never married. To read this eBook collection on your Palm, you must first have an eBook reader installed.
