About Pocket Beat (a.k.a. PocketBeat)
Pocket Beat - the first truly *accurate* metronome available on Handango! This is not hyperbole! See "readme1st.html" within the .zip file. Gary Duke is proud to present Pocket 3.5 -- the first GIG READY metronome with setlist capability and the patent-pending VVTR tempo display feature! No need for expen$ive in-ear-monitors or deafening click sounds: Keep rock solid time during gigs, like a professional, but save your hearing and your money - with Pocket Beat 3.5! Professional timekeepers (especially gigging drummers): Pocket Beat - the first truly accurate* Palm metronome - is now the first GIG READY metronome with its patent-pending VVTR (Vivid Visual Tempo Reference) feature and the ability to store complete setlists including full song titles! Introducing a REVOLUTION in portable metronomes! Pocket Beat 3.5 lets you see the beat even if you're not looking directly at the display, giving you greater live flexibility. Look straight at the full-screen VVTR display, or look straight out into the audience and rely on your peripheral vision. Or ignore it and check back on your tempo whenever you feel like it-- try ignoring a click that's blasting into your eardrums! It is easy to set up Pocket Beat for live playing situations. Take a look at the photo's below: As you can see, a simple music stand body (with the sheet music "head" removed) and two pieces of 3M Dual-Lock (rigid strips with mushroom shaped stems that interlock) are all that's needed to mount your Palm and make it fully maneuverable within a live setup. Using the Dual-Lock strips on the stand and the unit make it easy to detach and reattach the Palm to the stand as shown above. Also pictured is the use of Palm's "Power To Go" sled to supply extra battery power but the setup will work fine without a "Power To Go". Either way, the Palm/PTG will still fit inside a standard Palm cradle to charge and HotSync (bottom left picture). Preassembled Pocket Beat stands are available: Contact me for purchase info.Pocket Beat 3.5 Features:
- VVTR - Pocket Beat's ground-breaking and patent-pending Vivid Visual Tempo Reference display. Look directly at it, or let it hover in your peripheral vision.
- Gig setlist feature - another first among portable metronomes: Tempos for your entire live set, including song titles are at your fingertips! Scroll through the setlist with the Palm 5-way pad left/right buttons, or just touch the word "Setlist" in the title bar to advance to the next tune.
- Cheat Sheets - NEW - Add 10 lines of text to any tune in the setlist. Remind yourself about song structure, lyrics, patterns & chord changes. Your notes remain visible under the flashing tempo display.
- Custom Beat Patterns - NEW - Define a voice (hat / bass / snare) for each beat in a pattern of up to 16 beats. Beat patterns can be an odd length for odd time practice (e.g. 7/4).
- Tempo is extremely accurate! Better than umpteen other Palm Metronomes. Test the precision for yourself!
- Tap a count-off - tap 8 beats (quarter notes) on the bass drum using your fingertip or a stylus and the drummer will count in on his "hats" and continue in time to your tapped tempo!
- Metronome beeps can be enabled for tempo reference or for accompaniment while practicing guitar or other instrument.
- Sampled drum sounds are available for tempo reference or practice accompaniment on Tungsten C, Tungsten E, Tungsten E2, Tungsten T3, Zire 71 and Treo 600 handhelds.
- Shuffle feel is supported for auditory tempo reference / accompaniment.
- Dual tempo and feel settings - easily switch between two specific tempos with the Palm scroll up/down buttons; this is useful in many educational and practice situations.
- A lot of power and flexibility packed into a friendly looking, uncluttered interface.
- Works even on older Palms! Requires only Palm OS 2.0 or higher. A color screen is recommended to make the most of VVTR.
